FHP seeks suspect in fatal hit-and-run accident in Ocoee

A 25-year-old resident of the City of Ocoee was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at approximately 10:44 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, at the intersection of Ocoee-Apopka Road and Demastus Lane.

Florida Highway Patrol officers are working hard to locate the suspect who fled the scene of the accident.

According to a press release from the FHP, a 2020 Toyota Tacoma was traveling south on Ocoee-Apopka Road, south of Demastus Lane, where the victim was lying directly in the vehicle's path.

The vehicle hit the victim and then fled the scene of the accident. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses to the incident provided a description of the vehicle to Ocoee Police, who assisted them by locating a vehicle in the area matching the description and with the same damage as the crash.

FHP officers towed the vehicle to a secure storage area for further processing.

This is an ongoing criminal investigation.
