17-year-old driver injured after his vehicle left the road and hit a tree

MECOSTA COUNTY, MI – A 17-year-old was injured in a crash after another driver forced the teen to leave the road, causing him to crash into a tree, Mecosta County sheriff's officials said.

At 10:49 p.m., officers responded to a report of an accident on Saturday, September 21, on Buchanan Road.

According to police, a 17-year-old Stanwood man was driving west on Buchanan Road when he left the road and struck a tree.

An investigation revealed that the teenager's vehicle was struck by another vehicle, causing the driver to leave the road.

The other vehicle left the scene and was described as a white pickup truck. After the crash, the Stanwood teenager was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.
