Man arrested for $90,000 in property damage to 75 cars in Maine

A 25-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after causing $90,000 worth of damage to 75 vehicles on Rowe Auburn at Center Street.

Smashed cars with weighted backpack

Skyler Henson of Auburn was taken into custody around 4:06 a.m. after he “launched a heavy backpack and smashed the windows and hoods of several vehicles in the parking lot,” police said.

Windshield and body damage to vehicles

“Most of the damage was caused by shattered windshields, and other vehicles also sustained body damage,” Auburn police said.

911 caller requested police presence

The 911 caller requested that officers come personally, pointing out that “the sooner the police arrive, the less damage there will be.” There were loud bangs in the background, Auburn Police.

Bail set at $5,000

Hanson was charged with aggravated criminal damage. Officials said he acted alone. Hanson was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail and bail was set at $5,000.
