Bing Crosby’s widow and star of “Anatomy of a Murder” turned 90

Kathryn Crosby, a singer and actress who was married to singer and actor Bing Crosby, has died. She was 90 years old.

A family spokesman said Kathryn died of natural causes at home in Hillsborough, California, on the night of Friday, September 20. Related Press.

Kathryn was born Olive Kathryn Grandstaff on November 25, 1933 in West Columbia, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and began acting in Hollywood after landing an audition for William Holden in a beauty pageant, according to diversity.

She also wrote a showbiz column for her hometown newspaper and met Bing during a White Christmas Visit. Kathryn and Bing married in 1957 and remained married until his death in 1977. They had three children, including Dallas with Mary Crosby as the leading actress.

Kathryn, who sometimes appeared under the names Kathryn Grant and Kathryn Grandstaff, made her film debut as an unnamed showgirl in the 1953 film So this is lovea biopic about opera singer Grace Moore. After several other uncredited roles – including one in the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock classic rear window — Kathryn was mentioned in the credits of the 1955 crime film Cell 2455, Death Row.

Then came supporting roles in the 1956 noir film The wild partystarring Anthony Quinn, the 1957 war comedy Operation Mad Ballwith Jack Lemmon and Ernie Kovacs, the adventure film from 1958 The 7th Voyage of Sinbadwith Kerwin Mathews in the leading role and 1959 Anatomy of a murderanother film with rear window's Jimmy Stewart.

Kathryn trained as a nurse in 1963, but stayed on screen in the 1970s with a morning show on Northern California's KPIX-TV. She later took on stage roles, including a role in the 1996 Broadway revival State FairAnd it hosted an annual Crosby National Golf Tournament in North Carolina for 16 years, until 2001.

She later remarried and tied the knot with Maurice William Sullivan in 2000. He died in a car accident in 2010 in which she was seriously injured.

Kathryn leaves behind her children, including Harry and Nathaniel Crosby, and several grandchildren.
