Police in the state of Maine arrest four people for drug offenses after traffic stop

Maine State Police arrested four people on drug charges Saturday night after stopping a vehicle in Fairfield for non-functioning taillights.

After a police officer stopped the vehicle on Route 201, he recognized the driver, Daniel Pallis, 35, and passenger Maria Jackson, 30, as two people who had fought with a police officer trying to arrest Jackson in August in August, according to Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte.

Pallis, of Dresden, was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and two counts of violation of release conditions. Jackson, of Richmond, was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and had a warrant out for his arrest for resisting arrest or detention and violating release conditions.

Police arrested two other passengers: Paul Duplin, 35, of Whitefield, who was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, violating conditions of release and unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs, and David Levasseur, 38, of Lisbon, who was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and trafficking in prison contraband.
