DSU student arrested after shooting at campus apartments – NBC10 Philadelphia

Delaware State University campus police have arrested two people in connection with a shooting that occurred in the Courtyards on Sept. 7, 2024, officials said.

According to police, officers arrested 18-year-old Tyrone Harrell and a 15-year-old boy, whose identity officers did not release, for their alleged involvement in a shooting that occurred outside apartments in the University Courtyard complex at approximately 10:32 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

According to the school’s website, these apartments are “designed primarily for senior students.”

Authorities say Harrell is a student at the school, but the other person arrested has no known connection to the university.

In the incident, officials said, police officers went to the university courtyard on September 7, 2024 and “found several vehicles and buildings that had been shot at,” but no one was injured in the incident.

Harrell was arrested on September 9, 2024, according to authorities, and charged with weapons possession, reckless conduct and other offenses.

According to official information, he was expelled from the university.

On Friday, September 20, 2024, police officials said they arrested the 15-year-old boy at a property in the 1200 block of White Oak Road in Dover, Delaware.

At that time, a loaded firearm was found on him, police said.

The teenager was charged with reckless endangerment, weapons offenses and other crimes, police said.
