Jefferson County detectives conduct drug raid in Bessemer

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Alabama (WBRC) – Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested two people during a drug-trafficking raid near Bessemer.

On September 19, detectives from the Vice and Narcotics Division worked with special units from the JCSO's Bessemer Division to investigate a Crime Stoppers tip regarding drug sales in the area.

Detectives said they attempted to stop the suspect in the 7100 block of Aaron Aronov Drive in Fairfield.

The suspect refused to stop and a chase ensued through the Ensley and Brighton areas. The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed at the corner of 48th Street and Huntsville Avenue in Brighton.

Police said they took the suspect into custody and transported him to UAB Hospital as a precaution. Police then transported him to the Jefferson County Jail.

The driver was accompanied by a passenger who fled the scene after the accident.

According to police, several vehicles were damaged during the pursuit, including a police car. The driver of another vehicle was struck during the chase and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Jarvis Anjuan Allen. Allen faces multiple charges of drug trafficking and attempted eluding police.

The total bail for Allen was set at over $2 million.

The passenger who was in the vehicle with Allen turned himself in, according to police. He was identified as 19-year-old Braylin Allen.

According to investigators, they seized 40 grams of fentanyl, 28 grams of ecstasy, 0.67 grams of methamphetamine, 604 grams of marijuana and 9 grams of cocaine.

Investigators also confiscated four cell phones, two digital scales and a pistol.
