Anthony Joshua will not retire after KO loss to Daniel Dubois

Anthony Joshua will not hang up his gloves.

The British boxing star was quick to end speculation of his retirement following his latest loss in the ring. Joshua was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in their heavyweight championship fight for the IBF title at London's Wembley Stadium last Saturday.

Joshua, 34, intends to keep fighting and get back on the road to success.

“You're probably wondering if I still want to fight?” Joshua said at the post-fight press conference. “Of course I want to keep fighting. We tried to be successful and we failed. What does that mean now? Are we going to run away? We're going to live to fight another day. That's me – a warrior.”

“Before I finish, we must also praise Daniel. When I sign up for a fight against opponents that I no longer like in my head. But now that it's over, I take my hat off to him and say: well done, him and his team. I also want to thank my team for the way they prepared me. There were a few mistakes, but that's the game. Small gaps can cost you dearly at the highest level.”

Overall, Joshua was in good spirits after the defeat – his fourth in his entire professional career. Before Saturday, Joshua had only lost to Andy Ruiz Jr. and twice to Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua, who fought in front of a record crowd of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, is proud of his performance.

“I always hold my head high,” Joshua said. “We tried to be successful and unfortunately we failed. We rolled the dice for the third time. That's 13 world championship fights and not every one has been successful but every one has been good and entertaining. We're trying to make history for British boxing and I think we're doing that.”
