On Friday, September 20, 2024, at approximately 6:39 p.m., the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office along with Augusta Police responded to a single UTV crash with injuries in the 500 block of Camp Road in the Village of Fairchild. Upon arrival at the scene, a passenger ejected from the UTV was treated by Fairchild Rescue and Mayo Ambulance. The passenger was later transported to a local hospital by Mayo One with life-threatening injuries. The driver was treated at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Speed ​​and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident. The investigation is ongoing and the names of the parties involved are not being released at this time.
