Two people arrested in Tipton after allegedly robbing a man who asked them for a ride

The Tulare County Sheriff's Office reported Sunday morning that its officers arrested two people in Tipton for a robbery.

In a Facebook post, the TCSO said officers were called to the Shell gas station in Tipton around 7:15 a.m. for a robbery.

The post told officers that when they arrived, a 56-year-old victim approached a man and a woman and asked for a ride. The couple reportedly agreed but demanded money for gas and several items. The victim secured those items.

The man then reportedly demanded more items, which the victim refused.

As they walked to the couple's car, the victim noticed the man was carrying a gun. The victim attempted to walk away until the man allegedly grabbed the victim's arm and twisted it behind his back.

The man then took the victim's wallet and the suspects drove away.

During the investigation, detectives identified the suspects as 29-year-old Elijah Freeman and 38-year-old Melissa Zamora.

Porterville police spotted the car and the couple was taken into custody on robbery charges.
