Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs arrested

NEW YORK – New York-based rapper and record executive Sean Combs – aka P Diddy – was arrested in Manhattan on September 16 and charged with organized crime and sex trafficking. He is currently being held without bail.

This comes after numerous civil lawsuits were filed against Diddy over the past year for a number of sex crimes. The first bombshell was filed by Diddy's ex-girlfriend Cassie on November 18, 2023. The allegations included claims of sexual abuse and misconduct, one instance of rape, and a claim that Diddy blew up fellow rapper Kid Cudi's car after he and Cassie allegedly had an affair.

Diddy and his lawyers denied the allegations, but reached an agreement with Cassie's legal counsel less than 24 hours after the lawsuit was filed.

A week later, on November 23, two more lawsuits were filed. One was filed anonymously and the other by Joi Dickenson-Neal, who as a college student in the early 1990s attended parties thrown by Diddy – called “freak offs” by those close to him. According to the lawsuit, Diddy had separate cups for his friends and his female guests, the latter of which were laced with date rapper drops. Dickinson-Neal drank some of these drinks, went to Diddy's studio with him and was allegedly assaulted by him.

Dickinson-Neal claims that these acts were recorded and distributed to members of Diddy's entourage.

In December 2023, another lawsuit was filed, this time by Jane Doe, who claimed that Diddy and other members of his entourage raped and beat her. At the time of the assaults, this Jane Doe would have been only 17 years old. After this information came to light, Diddy claimed on various social media that these lawsuits were attempts to “assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.”

These are just a few of the many allegations against Diddy from all walks of life. Diddy has also been accused of rape, sex trafficking, solicitation of sex, drug abuse, sexual and physical assault, attempted murder, pedophilia, and kidnapping, among others.

After his arrest, Diddy's defense stated that he would “cooperate” and grant strict house arrest and pay over $50 million to be released on bail. The judge rejected the offer, in part because of a 16-page letter from federal prosecutors advocating that Diddy be kept incarcerated.

Diddy faces a life sentence in prison and his next court date is scheduled for October 9 in New York City.
