Tragic incident: 14-year-old and two others electrocuted while hunting in Tamil Nadu | News from Chennai

Chennai: Three people, including a 14-year-old boy, were electrocuted when they were hit by a electric fence built around a farm to prevent the intrusion of wild animals Tirupattur on Sunday.
The deceased — K Singaram, 45, his son Lokesh, 14, of Chinnamookanur village near Jolarpettai and their relative S Karipriyan, 65, of Perumapattu village near Tirupattur — had ventured into the farmland in Perumapattu on Saturday night to hunt hares. As they crossed the fields, they came into contact with the electric fence and died on the spot. Police said that the farm belonged to a farmer named K Murugan. However, Murugan had leased the land to another farmer from the same village, identified as S Nitthi.
Since the farmland was near the forest reserve at the foot of the Yelagiri range, wild animals were entering the fields and damaging the crops. Farmers in the area had therefore erected electric fences, police said. The bodies were discovered by the villagers in the morning. Police sent the bodies to Tirupattur Government Hospital for postmortem and have registered a case.
