Five people hospitalized after van rollover accident in southern Utah; busy day for New Harmony Fire Department

It was a busy Saturday for the New Harmony Fire Association.

Four teams spent most of the day in Sand Hollow conducting search and rescue training and one team was in Cedar City training firefighter cadets.

As all crews returned, the New Harmony Fire Department received reports of an injury along Highway 144.

Gold Cross Ambulance was the first to arrive on the scene. Shortly thereafter, according to the New Harmony Fire Department, a second emergency call came in about smoke on I-15 near Exit 36.

The New Harmony Fire Department left a crew with the ambulance and headed off to the second call.

On the way, however, the boss and the adjutant saw a delivery truck leave the highway and overturn.

One crew continued to Exit 36 ​​while another crew stopped at the crash scene. The engine drove back to the crash scene, New Harmony said.

The crew cleared the accident scene at exit 36 ​​and returned to the rollover accident.

According to New Harmony Fire, 11 passengers had to undergo triage. Five passengers were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Gold Cross Ambulance, Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue, the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Utah Highway Patrol provided assistance.
