Pursuit of a murder suspect leads to closure of I-5 in Everett

The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Everett were closed Sunday afternoon as police pursued a shooting suspect.

KIRO7 News reports that the suspect is wanted in connection with a shooting involving two men on Casino Road.

According to Everett police, the suspect shot a man and a woman. The man was killed and the woman was injured in the shooting.

Police pursued the suspect southbound on I-5. At last report, officers negotiated with the suspect and all lanes remained closed. The northbound lanes were also closed for a while. Those lanes reopened around 2:15 p.m.

Washington State Department of Transportation cameras show drivers stuck in the southbound lanes attempting to make a U-turn to get off the highway.
