BREAKING NEWS: Tempe Police Respond to Domestic Violence Incident at University Pointe Near ASU

According to a LiveSafe alert sent to the university community this afternoon, Tempe police responded to a domestic violence incident at residences near Lemon Street and Rural Road on Sunday.

During the incident, a man allegedly struck another man with an ice pick, according to an emailed statement from Tempe police.

When police arrived on the scene, the suspect did not leave the apartment without first negotiating with police, the statement said.

A witness said the incident occurred at University Pointe, a student residence across from the Tempe campus.

According to Tempe police, there were no injuries requiring transport. The investigation into this incident is ongoing and charges are pending.

According to a second LiveSafe alert sent around 3:50 p.m., the area was clear for students and community members to continue with their normal activities.
