Arthur Blank confirms succession plan: Falcons to remain in family ownership

Falcons owner Arthur Blank had previously stated that his succession plan intends to keep the Falcons in his family, a plan he reiterated this week to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Our family is on the right track,” he said Thursday. “We're going to keep this in our family. That's been our commitment, those are our plans. So that hasn't changed and it's not going to change. We're excited to serve as stewards and guardians of this franchise. We're trying to take it to the next level every year for our fans and the National Football League.”

Blank, who turns 82 next week, was inducted into the Falcons' Ring of Honor on Sunday. He has owned the Falcons since February 2002 and has experienced some of the greatest highs (and lows) in franchise history.

Under Blank, the Falcons hired two of the most successful coaches in their history (Mike Smith and Dan Quinn), and had their two best quarterbacks in Matt Ryan and Michael Vick. Blank helped build Mercedes-Benz Stadium, helped bring MLS soccer to Atlanta and is known for his community involvement.

Blank has six children. His son, Josh, was recently named Vice President of Executive Strategy at Arthur M. Blank Sports and Entertainment (AMBSE). Josh previously worked in the NFL's New York office.
