SCC reports no impact of the fire incident on chemical operations

Siam Cement Public Company Limited (or “SCC”) hereby announces that Thai Plastic and Chemicals Public Company Limited (or “TPC”), a subsidiary of SCC in chemical business located in Map Ta Phut Industrial Area, Rayong Province, issued a statement on 22 September 2024 regarding a fire and smoke incident in a subsidiary production unit within the factory. The incident occurred at 12:10 p.m. and the fire was extinguished at 3:05 p.m. without causing any injuries or fatalities. SCC would like to advise that the impact of the incident is 0.04% of SCG's total revenue. Although the situation has been resolved, TPC continues to closely monitor the safety of the surrounding community and the air quality in the area.

Thai Plastic and Chemicals Public Company Limited (TPC) would like to inform that a fire and smoke incident occurred at a subsidiary production unit of our factory in Map Ta Phut Industrial Area, Rayong Province at 12:10pm on September 22, 2024. The company immediately took control of the situation and successfully extinguished the fire by 3:05pm without any injuries or fatalities. Our public relations officers were immediately dispatched to the area to provide assistance, make explanations and listen to the concerns of the surrounding community.

In terms of environmental impact, during the incident, the Industrial Area of ​​Thailand (IEAT) measured air quality parameters in real time. All reported parameters were within standard limits. In addition, our environmental officers continuously monitored air quality in over 40 surrounding community areas. Regarding water quality, the company captured the water used for firefighting in retention ponds and stormwater drainage systems and disposed of it safely in accordance with legal regulations, ensuring no leakage into the environment.

We would like to inform you that the incident occurred only in the VCM 1 (vinyl chloride monomer) co-production unit, while the operation of VCM 2 continued unaffected. In addition, TPC has insurance against property risks and business interruption. The company is coordinating with insurers to determine the compensation in accordance with the insurance terms and conditions.

TPC apologizes for the incident and will expedite the investigation to determine the cause and take preventive measures in the future.
