Paul McCartney bursts into the comedian's performance after both were “high” backstage

Paul McCartney fell Black-like Star Deon Cole's stand-up performance at the Hollywood Improv on September 17 after both were reportedly “high” backstage.

“I was high with my friend tonight and we had a great time,” Cole told the crowd before asking them to “please stop for my friend Paul McCartney.” As the surprised audience applauded the legendary musician, McCartney leaned forward and whispered a few words in Cole's ear.

“I had to smoke, and that's why this is happening,” Cole told the crowd. “See, you never know,” the comedian said of the show's unpredictable lineup. “And you motherfuckers didn't give me any love tonight,” he joked.

Far from being a passive spectator, McCartney was armed with notes. “I just enjoyed watching you work through this material,” he told Cole. “And you're right, some of it was a flop,” he joked as the audience laughed. “But you've got pearls in there, man, that's great,” he added.

McCartney then offered some consolation, explaining that he himself had survived disastrous performances. “In the beginning, when [The Beatles] “At first, guys were throwing pennies at us,” he says. “It took us a while to figure out what we were doing.”

“This doesn't feel good, Paul,” Cole told him. “I think I've been doing this long enough, but I get what you mean.” McCartney then assured Cole that he was “great,” but as he left the stage, he told the comedian, “I didn't make you smoke.”

“Yes you did, asshole,” Cole replied. “You made me smoke with you and stuff.”

Cole has a lot to celebrate this week as his Netflix special Okay, sir has risen into the top three of the streamer's most-watched TV series since its premiere on September 17th.
