VTA San Jose shooting: Employee arrested after bus driver shot and killed in Chaboya Division Yard, sheriff says

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) — After a round-the-clock investigation, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office announced Sunday that it had made an arrest in connection with the shooting of a Valley Transportation Authority employee in San Jose Friday night.

Authorities said they arrested a 33-year-old San Jose man Sunday afternoon in the killing of a VTA bus driver. The suspect reportedly worked at VTA with the victim. The motive is still under investigation.

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

The fatal shooting occurred at around 9:40 p.m. Friday in the VTA's Chaboya Division Yard. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department says it appears to be an isolated incident and the suspect is solely responsible for the shooting.

The identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed.

The sheriff's office said it would provide more information at a press conference on Monday.
