Andy Dalton's retro performance and the Rams' late comeback are the biggest wins of week three

Week 3 of the NFL season was full of impressive victories – some great comebacks, teams earning their first win of the season, and more.

There were many exciting events to keep an eye on between now and Sunday. Could Sean McVay defeat his arch-nemesis Kyle Shanahan? Which Cowboys team would compete? What would happen in a matchup of undefeated teams in Minnesota? And what would the Panthers look like without Bryce Young?

Here are the teams that had the biggest wins of the week.

Panthers win with Andy Dalton

The Carolina Panthers justified their decision to replace former No. 1 first-round pick Bryce Young with experienced Andy Dalton as the offense revved up in a 36-22 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Dalton was great, completing 26 of 37 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Diontae Johnson caught eight balls for 122 yards and scored a touchdown. And Chuba Hubbard was a threat, running for 114 yards and catching for another 55 yards.

A week after their win over the Ravens, it was a stunning home performance by the Raiders. Las Vegas scored 15 points in the fourth period and made the game seem closer than it actually was.

Dalton's performance not only saves the season for Carolina; it also raises even more questions about how poor Young's performance has been over the first two weeks. Is Young really that incapable of leading an NFL offense? Or was Dalton's performance a one-week blip?

Rams come back against 49ers

No Cooper Kupp, no Puka Nacua, no problem. The Los Angeles Rams rallied from a deficit on Sunday to beat the San Francisco 49ers on a late field goal, winning 27-24.

The Rams trailed by 10 points in the fourth quarter before scoring the game's final 13 points. Quarterback Matthew Stafford led two big drives late – a touchdown on a missed field goal by Jake Moody and then a three-play, 50-yard drive for the game-winning kick.

Stafford finished with 221 passing yards, while running back Kyren Williams rushed for 89 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Niners playmaker Brock Purdy had impressive statistics – 22 of 30 for 292 yards and three points – but was unable to decide the game in the end.

Both teams are now 1:2.

Vikings remain undefeated

The Minnesota Vikings continue to be successful.

Sam Darnold threw four touchdowns in a dominant 34-7 win over the Texans. The Vikings are 3-0 despite starting quarterback JJ McCarthy being sidelined with an injury before the season. Darnold threw for just 181 yards, but was helped along by Aaron Jones' 102 yards on the ground.

The most important thing of the game was Minnesota's defense, which kept CJ Stroud in check. The Texans quarterback threw for 215 yards, was intercepted twice and sacked four times. Houston was inefficient on third downs and couldn't run the ball at all.

The Vikings have found a recipe for success. Darnold uses the team's weapons and plays relatively clean football, making nice throws at crucial moments. And the defense is a serious unit that shut down the Texans a week after their surprise win against the 49ers.

Ravens win first game of the year

The Baltimore Ravens can breathe a sigh of relief after securing a 28-25 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

For most of the game, it looked like a clear victory. The Ravens built up a 28-3 lead, thanks in large part to a dominant running performance. Baltimore ran 276 yards on 45 carries and scored three runs.

But Dallas fought back in the second half, going on a 22-7 run to tie the game at 3-3 late in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys' offense finally came to life, and the special teams even managed to intercept an onside kick. But the late push wasn't enough to make up for the inept start on both sides of the ball. The defense was pushed around and the offense couldn't sustain any offense.

It was the second week in a row that the Cowboys were beaten defensively. One more case and it would be more than fair to question one of the most feared teams in football early in the season.

The Ravens desperately needed this win. After their first win of the year, they are now 1-2.
