FHP chase ends with accident and arrest: NorthEscambia.com

A Florida Highway Patrol chase in Escambia County on Sunday ended with an accident and an arrest.

Dante Jamon Walker, 24, was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, and driving without a license.

An FHP trooper was monitoring traffic on Fairfield Drive near Stanford Road when he noticed a black Jeep Wagoneer driving recklessly. The trooper activated his emergency equipment to stop the vehicle.

According to FHP, Walker accelerated rapidly and fled from the officer. The pursuit continued for a short distance until Walker crashed into an estimated 100-year-old oak tree on the Cherokee Trail. He was arrested uninjured and without further incident.

A passenger fled on foot and was not found until Sunday night.
