Man accused of possessing stolen gun in Canandaigua

On Sunday evening, a man was arrested in the city of Canandaigua for illegal possession of a firearm.

Ontario County Sheriff's officers responded to a report of a firearm theft and initiated an investigation.

During the investigation, it was determined that 23-year-old Onofre H. Nieto was in possession of the firearm but did not have the required New York State firearms license.

Nieto was arrested and issued a summons to appear in Canandaigua Municipal Court at a later date to face the charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
