Suspect arrested after fatal shooting of teenager – TopNews

Carabinieri police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting that killed a 19-year-old woman at a beach club in Molfetta, near Bari, late Saturday.


It is believed that the violence occurred after a dispute broke out between rival members of local mafia clans and anti-mafia investigators took over the case.


The dead woman, Antonia Lopez, was the niece of Ivan Lopez, who was killed in an attack in Bari in September 2021.


According to sources, Eugenio Palermiti, a 20-year-old with ambitions to become boss of the Palermiti clan, was among the four people injured in Saturday's shooting.


The suspect, 21-year-old Michele Lavopa, has confessed to firing the shots that killed the woman and said he threw the weapon into the sea afterward, sources said Monday.


Lavopa was already known to local law enforcement authorities.
