Cooler temperatures and isolated showers to start the week in Maryland

Cooler temperatures with occasional showers to start the week in Maryland

WE ZOOMED IN WITH OUR CAMERA IN ANNAPOLIS. YOU CAN SEE WATER IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE TOWN HILL AND A PARKED CAR. THAT'S THE LAST PLACE I WANT MY CAR RIGHT NOW. SO HOPE SOMEONE CAN TELL THE WAY. AND HEY, MAYBE THAT MAINTENANCE TRUCK WILL CHECK IT OUT. AND SOMETIMES THEY ACTUALLY TOW CARS FROM THERE. IF THE WATER IS TOO HIGH. SO DON'T PARK AT THE TOWN HILL FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS BECAUSE IT'S PROBABLY FLOODING AND WE'RE AT LOW RIGHT NOW. THAT SHOWS YOU HOW MUCH HIGHER THE WATER IS GOING TO BE. We'll hit the next high tide in Annapolis around 9:30 this morning, and then the worst high tide will be at 11:00 p.m. In fact, the high tides will be much worse at night in the Annapolis area. But right now, we're actually seeing flooding all along the bay. The orange indicates where the high tides are low in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County, and even along the west coast. Well, because the wind was persistently coming from the east, but also had a southerly component that pushed all the water into the bay and caused these above-normal high tides. So that's got nothing to do with the rain. It's everything to do with the onshore wind. But the worst was in Anne Arundel County. Because of that easterly component, the high tide should peak at about four feet, and that will be the case again at the high tide at night. And that will flood numerous streets. In the Annapolis area, unfortunately, some businesses will also be flooded. So we've got a persistent easterly wind. It's making for a cooler weather pattern. We're only going to have highs around 21 degrees for the next couple of days, and we'll end up just above 27 degrees on Thursday. So it's going to be a little warmer that day. But there could still be some rain, and the rain will continue into next weekend. So we're going to have a cloudier weather pattern. Temperatures are in the high 15s right now. We're at 16 degrees, Woodstock at 21 degrees, in downtown Baltimore. THE SKY IS CLOUDY IN THE EYE AND IT COULD DRIZE SOME OR GET RID OF SOME, BUT MOST OF THE RAIN IS TO THE WEST OF US, STILL WEST OF HAGERSTOWN. BUT YOU CAN SEE THESE SHOWERS DEVELOPING IN WESTERN MARYLAND NOW. THEY'LL COME IN AS THE DAY GOES ON. IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE IT'S STARTING AT 9:00 AM WE'RE SEEING SOME OF THESE SHOWERS DEVELOPING. IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE IT'S WARMING UP FOR MIDDAY AND INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. AT THAT TIME IT'S STILL GOING TO BE CONTINUOUSLY RAINY. AND THEN MORE SHOWERS WILL COME IN FROM THE NORTH AND WEST THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING, BUT THEY'RE A LITTLE MORE INTENSE IN THE EVENING SO YOU WON'T NECESSARILY HAVE THEM ALL THE TIME. I WOULD JUST TAKE AN UMBRELLA WITH THAT POTENTIAL. HIGHEST TEMPERATURES TODAY WILL BE IN THE 70S. WE WILL FALL TO LOW-SEASON QUALITIES IN THE 60S TONIGHT. SOME RAIN BREAKS WILL DEVELOP TONIGHT AS WELL. SO NOTE HOW THE RAIN CHANCES WILL INCREASE LATER TODAY. OUR SEVEN-DAY FORECAST PREDICT A COOLER PERIOD FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WE WILL HAVE RAIN BREAKS ALL OVER WEDNESDAY, BUT THERE IS A CHANCE OF SOME RAIN BREAKS EVEN THEN.

Meteorologist Ava Marie says it will be cloudy and wet to start the week, with showers on and off throughout the week and temperatures just above 20 degrees. Cloudy and cooler conditions will continue throughout the week before warming up again on Thursday. Rain could be more likely then, but the weekend looks clear just in time for the prime-time Ravens game.
