Charles Oliveira reacts to a possible future fight against Conor McGregor after UFC 309 … “I’m the guy who sells a lot”

After coming so close to another undisputed UFC lightweight title shot, Charles Oliveira will once again look to reestablish his position when he faces Michael Chandler in a surprise rematch at UFC 309.

In April, Charles Oliveira narrowly lost to the impressive Arman Tsarukyan in his fight for the number one contender title at UFC 300.

“Do Bronx” has therefore been keeping a low profile and seriously considering his next move, even hinting at possibly moving up to welterweight and fighting at 170 pounds.

Nevertheless, UFC general manager Dana White recently announced that the former lightweight champion will have a rematch in 2021 against the man he defeated in the fight for the vacant title: Michael Chandler.

Charles Oliveira comments on a possible fight against Conor McGregor

“Iron” Chandler had to wait two years for his fight against Conor McGregor. But instead of waiting any longer, the 38-year-old decided to ask the UFC for another fight and was granted a rematch.

Although he has accepted another fight, Chandler is confident that he will still be McGregor's next fight and will benefit from “The Notorious” comeback.

However, with a win over Chandler at UFC 309 on November 16, Oliveira could become the Irishman’s comeback opponent.

The 34-year-old still hopes that he can make it to another title fight against Islam Makhachev or the aforementioned Tsarukyan.

“Can you guarantee that if I beat Conor, I'll be next? Because the title fight is between Tsarukyan and Islam anyway, so I have to wait anyway,” Oliveira told Laerte Viana.

“So why not make a lot of money with Conor? I'm the guy who sells a lot, he's also a guy who sells, so we would definitely crack the PPV,” Oliveira continued.

Oliveira comments that Chandler waited two years to fight Conor McGregor

The Brazilian fan favorite goes into UFC 309 with an activity advantage considering Chandler hasn't fought since 2022, when he was forced to submit by Dustin Poirier at UFC 281.

Regarding “Iron” Chandler’s decision to wait for a possible fight against McGregor, Oliveira said he could not have waited so long without a fight.

“I'm not going to speak for him, I'm going to speak for myself. I don't like to stay too long… If I stay quiet for too long without fighting, I feel like I don't have a fighting team.

“I don't find myself, I like to fight, I talk a lot, even with my students at the beginning when I was participating in Jiu-Jitsu championships, it helped me a lot because I was in a fighting team… I feel that if I don't fight for a long time, it's not good for me,” Oliveira added.

With Makhachev out until the first quarter of next year, a win over Chandler at UFC 309 could give Oliveira a superfight against McGregor while he awaits the champion's return. This is a matchup that UFC fans have been waiting for.
