1 seriously injured in accident involving semi-trailer and car: Manhattan Fire

PEOTONE, IL — One person was seriously injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car at the intersection of Wilmington-Peotone and Center Road Monday morning, a Manhattan Fire Protection District official said.

The accident occurred at 7:12 a.m. The driver of the car was extricated and taken from the scene in critical condition, said Steve Malone, chief of the Manhattan Fire Protection District. The driver of the semi-truck declined treatment at the scene.

Further details about the accident were not immediately available. The Will County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

The intersection had been closed since 8:45 a.m., Malone said.
