Man accused of attempted robbery at Walmart in Raleigh

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A man is accused of attempting to rob a Walmart in Raleigh.

Darnell Reed is charged with attempted robbery, disturbing the peace, assault, resisting arrest and trespassing.

On Sunday, Reed entered a Walmart at 3950 Austin Peay Highway.

The cashier told police that she was working in the cash service center and cashing a check for a customer when Reed approached her and said, “Give me all the money in your register.”

The victim refused to give Reed any money and came out from behind the counter to tell someone in management.

She did not see Reed carrying a gun, but said she feared for her life.

Reed then left the store and later tried to go back in, but an employee told him he was not allowed on the premises, the affidavit states.

He told the employee that he wanted to cash a check, but was again told to leave the premises.

Reed then pushed the employee and ran away across the parking lot.

The employee reported Reed to the police.

According to the affidavit, officers repeatedly ordered Reed to be taken into custody, but he refused.

After a short struggle he was arrested.
