Several people injured after accident in Wilton

A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred in Wilton on Sunday evening after authorities said one vehicle crossed the center line and entered oncoming traffic.

WILTON, Iowa – One person is dead and three others were injured following a two-vehicle crash in Wilton, Iowa, on Sunday, September 22.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Taylor Avenue. Officials say a 2012 Nissan Juke was traveling northbound when it crossed the center line of the road and collided with a 2003 Ford Taurus traveling southbound.

According to official information, both vehicles were badly damaged in the accident.

A total of four people were involved in the accident. Two were flown by helicopter to a regional hospital for treatment, one person succumbed to their injuries.

A third person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. A fourth person was injured but could not be transported for further treatment.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification. The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
