Marvel recruits Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan

Marvel has released the first trailer for “Thunderbolts*,” which will be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.

In the upcoming superhero film starring “Captain America” lead actor Sebastian Stan and “Black Widow” actors Florence Pugh and David Harbour, reformed Marvel villains are forced to team up to carry out covert operations on behalf of the U.S. government.

The “Thunderbolts*” crew also includes Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster from “Black Widow”), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost from “Ant-Man and the Wasp”), Russell (John Walker from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as mastermind Valentina Allegra de Fontaine). “Top Gun: Maverick” star Lewis Pullman plays a mysterious character named Bob.

“Everyone here has done bad things,” Pugh says in the trailer when he comes face to face with the rest of the team. “Shadow ops, government lab robberies, contract killings. … Someone wants us gone.”

Louis-Dreyfus, whose character is the scheming director of the CIA, says: “We are brought up to believe that there are good and bad. But at some point you realize that there are bad and worse. And nothing else.”

“Thunderbolts*” is based on Kurt Busiek's comic book series of the same name and is directed by Jake Schreier and produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D'Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez and Scarlett Johansson serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Eric Pearson (“Black Widow,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Transformers One,” “Fantastic Four: First Steps”), “Beef” creator Lee Sung Jin and co-showrunner of “The Bear” Joanna Calo.
