Olivia Munn and John Mulaney are happy about their second child

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney have welcomed their second child, about six months after Munn announced she had to have her uterus and ovaries removed to battle breast cancer.

The “The Newsroom” actor and the “Everybody's in LA” comedian had the child via surrogate, Munn announced in an Instagram post on Sunday, reflecting on expanding her family after her horrific battle with cancer.

“Méi June Mulaney was born on September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon,” Munn captioned an Instagram post showing her, Mulaney, and little Méi sitting on her lap on the side of a hospital bed. Méi, she explained, means plum in Chinese.

“I had so many deep emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” the “X-Men: Apocalypse” star added, sharing more images from Méi's debut. “When I first met our surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding that I knew I had found a true angel. Words cannot express my gratitude for protecting our baby for nine months and making our dreams come true.”

“I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon, for making the journey to us. My heart exploded,” she wrote.

Mulaney, 42, also shared the same hospital photo on his Instagram profile, adding a short video of their daughter spitting on him while he burps her. The Emmy-winning comedian repeated parts of his wife's caption, adding, “We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much.”

Munn, 44, publicly announced in March that she had been diagnosed with Class B breast cancer after undergoing genetic testing in February 2023 “to be proactive” about her health. The diagnosis led to four surgeries over 10 months, including a bilateral mastectomy. Around Mother's Day in May, she told Vogue that she also had a hysterectomy to remove her uterus and a bilateral oophorectomy to remove both ovaries. But, she said, she underwent a third egg retrieval in advance and obtained two viable embryos through IVF, which would allow her and Mulaney to expand their family if they wanted to.

She and Mulaney — whom she met at Saturday Night Live star Seth Meyer's wedding to Alexi Ashe in 2013 — married in July after three years together. They began dating in spring 2021 and welcomed their son, Malcolm Hiệp, in November 2021.

Representatives for Munn and Mulaney did not immediately respond to The Times' request for comment Monday.
