Grinnell man arrested in Storm Lake on drug charges, including felony charges

A Grinnell man was arrested on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Storm Lake over the weekend.

According to Storm Lake Police, a vehicle was stopped for a minor traffic violation in the 500 block of Cayuga Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night. A Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office sniffer dog was deployed and indicated the presence of marijuana in the vehicle. Officers conducted a search and found various marijuana products and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The driver, 38-year-old Colby Earnhart, was arrested without incident. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the third time and failure to display a drug tax stamp, both class D felonies… as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Earnhart was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $10,300 bail.
