2025 State forward Trent Sisley speaks out about basketball at IU – The Daily Hoosier

IU basketball has its first new recruit for the class of 2025.

And he's a player that Indiana fans have gotten to know well over the past few years.

Forward Trent Sisley announced Monday afternoon that he has committed to play for the Hoosiers. His father confirmed the decision to TDH Monday morning. The news comes just one day after he took an official visit to the Bloomington campus last year.

“It felt like home,” Sisley told On3's Joe Tipton on Monday. “I could just feel how much Coach Woodson and the whole staff wanted me throughout the recruiting process. And ultimately, it was just the opportunity to be able to contribute.”

Sisley chose Indiana over Purdue, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Iowa.

The announcement marks the culmination of a three-year process by the IU staff. Indiana extended Sisley an offer in October 2021, shortly before the start of his freshman season at Heritage Hills HS in southern Indiana.

And Sisley turned out to be the high-end company that everyone had expected at the time.

The 6-foot-4 Sisley is a four-star recruit according to the On3 Industry Average. He is the No. 78 player in the class of 2025.

Sisley played three years at Heritage Hills (Lincoln City, Indiana), averaging 24 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.9 steals per game as a junior. Overall, he made 60% of his field goals and 35% of his three-pointers on 78 attempts.

For his senior year, he transferred to the nationally recognized Montverde Academy to further prepare for college.

“I'm all about improving, developing,” Sisley told The Daily Hoosier in July. “Coach (Kevin) Boyle, great coach, very well respected, so I just want to go there, work on my skills, focus a little more on the perimeter and get ready for college.”

Sisley has worked on developing his skills on the wing over the past year and hopes to fill a similar role to Mackenzie Mgbako at IU, as a hybrid forward who can shoot threes.

“Obviously he (Mgbako) shot a lot of threes last year and made a lot of threes, and he's pretty physical, so I think that's a good comparison. I'd say that's fair,” Sisley told TDH in July.

Sisley was a teammate of IU 2025 recruiting target Braylon Mullins on the Adidas Circuit this spring and summer. Now he will turn his attention to helping the IU team get Mullins, along with another former AAU teammate, in-state guard/wing Jalen Haralson.
