Monday evening’s Serie A match between Atalanta and Como was temporarily postponed following a last-minute pitch inspection at the Gewiss Stadium.

Atalanta-Como questionable after adverse weather conditions

Due to heavy rainfall in the region, the pitch at Gewiss Stadium is currently unsafe to play on, but ground staff are working hard to make the game possible tonight, even though the likelihood of cancellation is increasing.

The field is still saturated with water and the ball has little to no bounce when thrown onto the surface.

An updated pitch inspection will be carried out at 20:15 CEST.

Atalanta-Como was originally scheduled to start at 7.45pm. The Como team had gathered in the tunnel and were ready to play regardless of the conditions, but for the referees, safety was the top priority.

Como will be particularly keen to get into the game as they seek their first win of the season in Serie A. Cesc Fabregas' side are currently in 19th place with one point from their first four games of the season.

If Atalanta wins against Como tonight, it could move up to sixth or fourth place in the table.
