Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi star in Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights | Emerald Fennell

Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi will star in a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights by Emerald Fennell.

The Oscar winner, known for her films “Promising Young Woman” and last year’s “Saltburn,” had teased the project on social media, but Deadline has now named the two actors involved in the project.

Fennell had suggested her adaptation on X with the line: “Be With Me Always. Take Any Form. Drive Me Mad.”

Robbie, who recently starred in the billion-dollar hit “Barbie,” produced both of Fennell's previous films. Elordi starred in “Saltburn,” which hit Amazon in late 2023.

Details about Fennell's new take on Emily Brontë's beloved romance are scarce. The multi-talented actor, who also starred in The Crown, will write, direct and produce the film. Production in the UK is set to begin in 2025.

The novel has undergone numerous adaptations over the years, including William Wyler's 1939 film and Andrea Arnold's 2011 version.

The story tells of the turbulent relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine, played by Elordi and Robbie.

Robbie, whose production company LuckyChap recently released the comedy My Old Ass, will also star in an Ocean's Eleven prequel alongside Ryan Gosling. Next year will also see A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, a fantasy film in which she stars alongside Colin Farrell.

Elordi recently starred alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones in the queer historical drama On Swift Horses, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. He will also appear in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.
