Defendant in King Soopers mass shooting trial found guilty on all counts – Boulder Daily Camera

Defendant Ahmad Alissa was found guilty on all counts in the Boulder King Soopers mass shooting, including ten counts of first-degree murder.

Alissa, who did not testify in the case, shot and killed 10 people at the Table Mesa King Soopers on March 22, 2021.

Alissa was found guilty of 10 counts of first-degree murder, 38 counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, six counts of illegal possession of a prohibited large firearms magazine and 38 counts of misdemeanor crimes of violence in connection with the shooting.

Defendants charged with one or more counts of premeditated murder in Colorado are sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Defendants found not guilty by reason of insanity are committed to the Colorado State Hospital pending a determination of rehabilitation.

Alissa pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of first-degree murder, 38 counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, six counts of illegal possession of a prohibited high-capacity magazine and 38 counts of violent crimes by reason of insanity in connection with the shooting.

The jury began deliberating around 2 p.m. on Friday. On Monday morning, they asked to see a video of one of Alissa's mental health reports that the defense presented during the trial.

Boulder police officers Eric Talley, Denny Stong (20), Neven Stanisic (23), Rikki Olds (25), Tralona Bartkowiak (49), Teri Leiker (51), Suzanne Fountain (59), Kevin Mahoney (61), Lynn Murray (62) and Jody Waters (65) were killed in the shooting.

Throughout the trial, the jury heard testimony from survivors, Alissa's family members, doctors and police officers.
