Bossier Parish man arrested after violent domestic incident in which he held woman captive in cabin for three days

BOSSIER PARISH, Louisiana (KSLA) – An Elm Grove man faces multiple charges for allegedly holding a woman against her will and sexually assaulting her.

According to Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington, officers were dispatched to the Red River South Marina on Friday, Sept. 20 for a domestic visit. Officials say during the incident, Gary Keith Free, 52, held a woman against her will in one of the cabins on the property and sexually assaulted her for three days. The woman was able to escape Friday afternoon and ran from the cabin. The sheriff's office says Free pursued her armed with a gun.

OTHER CRIMES IN ARKLATEX

When officers arrived on scene, they found the woman and brought her to safety. Free jumped into the water at the marina and tried to hide from officers, but was found by a sniffer dog. Free was arrested and the gun was confiscated.

The sheriff's office says that during this time, Free threatened two marina employees and a resident with the weapon.

“Free” was booked at Bossier Max with the following fees:

  • Second degree kidnapping
  • First degree rape
  • domestic violence serious bodily harm
  • Serious bodily harm with a firearm (3 cases)

Free's bail was set at $2.1 million.
