Pleasanton police arrest woman suspected of murder

The California Department of Justice supported this investigation

PLEASANTON – On September 12, 2024, Pleasanton Police arrested a woman suspected of being involved in the fatal stabbing: Edevion White, 32, of Pleasanton. The stabbing occurred on May 1, 2023, at a residence on Owens Drive.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Kennedy Stith, was arrested at her Oakland home and later booked into Santa Rita Jail on a charge of murder under Penal Code Section 187.

Initially, it was reported that the victim had been stabbed to death by two male suspects wearing ski masks during a robbery. However, after a year-long investigation, Pleasanton detectives determined that this claim was not true. The victim and the suspect knew each other.

Pleasanton Police thanked the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, the California Department of Justice and the California Highway Patrol Special Unit for their assistance in this investigation.

“The victim's family and the community are likely relieved that a suspected murderer has been arrested. We thank our law enforcement partners who are committed to protecting the public,” said Alan Barcelona, president of the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA).
