St. Louis man sentenced to 12 years in prison for drug deal shooting

Terrell McDaniel, 42, killed Andre Nash after the latter confronted him about a $500 drug deal.

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man was sentenced Monday to 12 years in prison for a deadly drug deal.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said 42-year-old Terrell Donta McDaniel agreed to sell 10 grams of fentanyl to Andre Nash for $500 on November 2, 2022.

McDaniel did not give Nash the full amount of fentanyl, which led Nash to seek him out to collect the debt, prosecutors said.

Nash discovered that McDaniel was living in a vacant house in the 4100 block of Clara Place. When Nash entered the house, McDaniel shot him.

The U.S. Attorney's Office added that McDaniel and others wrapped Nash's body in tarps and plastic and put it in the trunk of a stolen car. They dumped it in the 5900 block of St. Louis Avenue that same evening. His body was discovered the next morning.

McDaniel apologized to Nash's family in court on Monday. Prosecutors said Nash “was afraid for his life and had been trying to avoid Nash for four to five months.”

McDaniel pleaded guilty in September 2023 to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess fentanyl with intent to resell and one count of discharging a firearm during a drug trafficking offense.
