Two men arrested for alleged rage-driving shooting on Indy's east side

INDIANAPOLIS – Two men were arrested by Indiana State Police troopers last week in connection with an alleged driving-related shooting on Indy's east side.

According to ISP, two police officers were eating something near 21st Street and Shadeland Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday when they heard gunshots.

The two police officers took action and went to a restaurant parking lot south of 21st Street on Shadeland Avenue. There they found a man with gunshot wounds.

While one police officer stayed with the victim and treated his injuries, the other began searching for the vehicle that had fled the scene of the accident.

According to ISP, within seconds the officer found a black Ford Escape half a mile from the crime scene, which was described as the suspect's vehicle.

Two men in the vehicle were arrested and a pistol was found on the ground right next to the vehicle.

ISP investigators concluded that the incident began with a suspected traffic rage shooting near 21st Street and Rama Place when several shots were fired during a verbal altercation.

The two men believed to have fired the gun have been arrested and face preliminary charges of attempted murder.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
