Goncalves family asks for public support to attend Ada County murder trial

The family of a University of Idaho student who was murdered in her off-campus home is asking for support to attend the trial.

Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students, was transferred to Boise after his defense team successfully petitioned to move the trial out of Latah County. Kohberger's attorneys argued that he could not get a fair trial in the area, pointing to data collected in telephone polls and media reports as evidence. The judge agreed, and the trial was moved to Ada County.

Kaylee Goncalves' family is now asking the public for help to help them travel to and from the trial. A GoFundMe page for the Goncalves states that they have not missed a hearing or court session since it began and plan to be present at the trial.

The fundraiser's description states that the money raised will help support “all 10 members of the Goncalves family, as well as their small pets, for at least these three months” while they are in Boise for trial. As of this publication, the fundraiser has raised more than $12,000, with a goal of $50,000. Click here for the GoFundMe page.
