One person arrested after shooting and car crash in Herriman

HERRIMAN – Police arrested a man on aggravated assault and weapons charges after a shooting and car crash were reported at the Emerson Apartments in Herriman Sunday night.

Herriman police identified Alejandro Palmar Romero as a suspect. Romero was a passenger in the car that crashed near the apartments and is believed to have fired shots at another vehicle that fled the scene.

Police investigate armed robbery at jewelry store in West Valley City

A passenger in the other car suffered a shoulder injury, although it is unclear whether it was a gunshot wound or shrapnel, police said. Both the driver and passenger of the car identified Romero as the shooter.

The cause of Romero's car accident was not immediately clear, but police impounded both vehicles involved.

Herriman Police believe this was a gang-related incident.
