Teenager arrested in Kerrville for threatening to carry out a school shooting

According to the police, there was no actual threat to the school because the student had completely fabricated the content of the posts.

SAN ANTONIO – Kerrville police said a middle school student was arrested after reports were posted online about a shooting threat against Hal Peterson Middle School.

Investigators have determined that the fake threats were posted on social media by a 10-year-old student at Kerrville Independent School District with the intent to cause harm or spread panic. He has been charged with third-degree terroristic threatening.

According to the police, there was no actual threat to the school because the student had completely fabricated the content of the posts.

Kerrville authorities are urging parents to talk to their children about the seriousness of social media threats suggesting violence at schools.

“The legal consequences for individuals who make threats, including minors, can be severe and permanent,” Kerrville police said in a statement.
