The final season starts this week in the US, so there are still many new episodes, twists and drama to come.

Announcing the final installment, Fox TV Network President Michael Thorn said in a statement (via Deadline): “From the beginning, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin's 126, so a huge thank you to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television – Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear – for creating one of the most action-packed dramas ever.”

Co-showrunner Rashad Raisani recently spoke to TVLine about what to expect from this final farewell: “We're giving each character a beautiful send-off, but we're also leaving the door open for story, so it feels like there are actually more things to explore in depth.”

But who's returning and what's the new season about? Read on to find out everything you need to know about 911: Lone Star season 5.

911: Lone Star Season 5 Release Date

Season 5 of 911: Lone Star premieres in the US on Monday, September 23rd on Fox and will stream on Hulu the following day.

It has been confirmed that the finale is expected to be released in early 2025, so it is more than likely that the season's 12 episodes will be split into two parts and that the episodes will be released weekly, with some sort of break in the middle of the season.

No UK release date for season 5 has been confirmed yet, but we do know the series is available to stream on Disney Plus – and will likely return to the streamer for the final installment.

It wouldn’t be a real season of 911: Lone Star without our familiar faces at the helm.

However, according to Deadline, it was announced in June that Sierra McClain, one of the series' regular actresses, would be leaving “911: Lone Star” after “some drama surrounding renegotiations with the cast.”

McClain played one of the series' popular 911 operators and Judd's (Jim Parrack) wife, Grace Ryder, but at this point we don't know exactly how she will be written out of the series.

Speaking to TVGuide, showrunner Rashad Raisani said of her exit: “When Sierra's ability to appear on the show was put in jeopardy, it was to my great dismay.”

“I love Sierra. I think she's a central building block of this show because it's her voice. She's the 911 dispatcher on a show called 911: Lone Star. So she's the center of the show and really the soul of the show.”

“So it was clear from the beginning that it was going to be brutal; the thought of losing her seemed, frankly, unthinkable.

“That made me say, 'OK, we have to respect Sierra McClain, the actress. We have to respect Grace, the character. So let's not do something cheap like kill her off between seasons,'” Raisani said, also confirming that Grace's whereabouts will be explained in the first episode of season five.

“We wanted to honor her, and I wanted to protect the character and also make the actress feel valued and respected, even if we weren't able to get her on the show.”

The official logline for Season 5 also revealed that Judd will be “retiring from the 126 to care for his son Wyatt, who was recently disabled.” So we can expect Parrack to either take on a smaller role or leave the show at some point in Season 5.

However, her son Wyatt (Jackson Pace) will be seen much more frequently in the new season, as actor Pace has been promoted to series regular. Although he appeared in nine episodes last season, Pace's Wyatt will appear in all episodes of season five alongside the rest of the main cast.

In terms of new faces, it was also announced that Parker Young (Enlisted, Suburgatory) will return as Campbell, described as “a Texas Ranger who works alongside Carlos,” and will be introduced in the first episode of Season 5.

“There's a very special chemistry that develops when these two guys work together,” showrunner Rashad Raisani told TVLine. “They complement each other on their cases and become good friends. As partners, they're going to go to some very interesting places.”

The confirmed cast list for season 5 of 911: Lone Star is as follows.

Since this is the final season of 911: Lone Star, we expect some pretty important missions and storylines in this installment.

Of course, the series mainly revolves around the lives of emergency responders in Austin, Texas, but as is usual with crime series, each episode focuses on a new case and a number of new guest stars.

Still, there will be some upheaval for some of our beloved characters, as the official logline for Season 5 revealed that Judd (Parrack) will “step down from the 126 to care for his newly disabled son, Wyatt.”

The decision forces Owen (Rob Lowe) to find a new lieutenant to take Judd's place, but this becomes even more complicated when both Marjan (Natacha Karam) and Paul (Brian Michael Smith) apply for the position, resulting in a “difficult decision” for Owen..

And according to Fox's official logline: “On his 30th birthday, TK receives a surprise visit from someone from his past who could change his and Carlos' lives forever.”

And what's more: “TK and Carlos' marriage is put to the test when Carlos becomes obsessed with solving his father's murder.”
