“What a Girl Wants” by Sabrina Carpenter and Christina Aguilera

Last week, Sabrina Carpenter and Christina Aguilera caused quite a stir. They teamed up for a TikTok video in which the two sang along to Kylie Jenner’s audio tracks from The KardashiansCarpenter says she's “obsessed with my mom” and turns the camera to Aguilera before confirming that she is indeed her mother's favorite.

But joking aside, it turns out there was a reason why the two were together: Today (September 23), Aguilera released Christina Aguilera's 25th birthday | Spotify anniversaries livewhich includes live interpretations of some of her classic songs. Particularly noteworthy is the new recording of “What A Girl Wants” which she records with Carpenter. Also notable is the version of “Genie In A Bottle” with Machine Gun Kelly.

This comes amid a highlight-packed September for Carpenter. Short and sweet became their first album that featured the Billboard 200 chart (but only just). Billboard also called “Espresso” the “song of the summer.” Then Carpenter performed a medley of “Please Please Please,” “Taste,” and “Espresso” at the 2024 MTV VMAs. Most recently, it was announced last week that Carpenter will release A Senseless Christmas with Sabrina Carpenterher first Christmas special, on Netflix, and she promised: “This will really make your Christmas tree ring.”
