According to court records, Daniel Burrell was arraigned Friday in Nantucket District Court on a fugitive homicide warrant.

Several media outlets reported that a former senior adviser to John Kerry's presidential campaign was arrested in Nantucket on Friday on a warrant from Las Vegas after his foreclosed mansion on the island was sold.

Daniel Burrell was arraigned Friday in Nantucket District Court on a charge of fugitive from justice, court records show. He was remanded to Barnstable County Correctional Facility for failure to post $10,000 bail.

Burrell, a private equity businessman and former Huffington Post contributor, served on the Clinton administration's Domestic Policy Council from 2000 to 2001, according to his HuffPost biography. He was an adviser to Kerry's 2002 Senate run and his 2004 presidential campaign.

The Nantucket Current reported that authorities in Nevada were looking for Burrell after he allegedly wrote a bad check for $1.5 million to a Las Vegas casino. He was previously wanted in Colorado for allegedly failing to repay more than $75 million in bank loans that he used for divorce settlements, a yacht and luxury real estate, Current reported.

His Nantucket home on Brewster Road was built in 2015 and sold at public auction on Thursday for $12,525,000. Current reported.

The Denver Post reported that Burrell was sued by several banks over his financial situation last year. Alpine Bank said earlier this year that Burrell owed $18 million on an $18.5 million loan, and First Western sued him months earlier over a $56 million loan secured by more luxury properties.

Burrell is also being sued by US Bank for a $3.5 million loan. post reported.

After his time with Kerry – the Current The Yale-educated businessman, described as Burrell's friend, was CEO of Rosemont Realty, a company linked to lawsuits against President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, until 2013. The funds were not linked to Hunter, according to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

Burrell was being held at the Nantucket Police Department on Friday until he can post bail or be transferred to the Barnstable House of Correction. His next court date is in November.
