Charges filed for kidnapping and assault after incident at Fairfax City Motel

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 22-year-old Falls Church man faces multiple charges, including kidnapping and assault, in connection with an incident that occurred at a Fairfax City motel on Sept. 16.

Officers with the City of Fairfax Police Department responded to the report of an assault at the Comfort Inn at 11180 Jermantown Road around 2:50 a.m. A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect prevented the victim from leaving his hotel room or calling 911, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police arrested Emilson Alvarado Sorto of Falls Church and booked him into the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. They charged him with kidnapping, assault and obstructing a 911 call. Alvarado Sorto was held on bail.

According to Fairfax County District Court records, Alvarado Sorto's preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 7, 2025.
