Bryson Stott celebrates the Phillies' division title with a nod to his roots at UNLV

The Philadelphia Phillies secured their first National League East title in more than a decade on Monday by defeating the Chicago Cubs 6-2 at Citizens Bank Park.

During the postgame celebration, Las Vegas infielder Bryson Stott was caught on camera wearing a UNLV football helmet in tribute to his alma mater.

The team, which includes Las Vegas native Bryce Harper, now has to make another playoff appearance after missing the World Series last year after losing to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Championship Series.

The Phillies now have to wait for the winner of the Wild Card series between third and sixth place in the National League.

As of Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers are tied, but the Atlanta Braves are only one and a half games away from last place, which Arizona holds.

The 2024 MLB postseason begins on Tuesday, October 1.
