Murder in a small town is a new Canadian mystery series that airs in the USA on Fox

Rossif Sutherland plays the detective Karl Alberg in the new show alongside Kristin Kreuk as Cassandra Mitchell, a librarian who becomes his lover.

The series is based on the novels by LR Wright And Rossif's famous father, the late Donald Sutherlandactually tried to make a film based on the books many years ago.

“That was new to me,” Rossif told The New York Post“I had no idea that this was one of many projects my father was involved in.”

“It seemed to be a happy coincidence, or maybe it was nepotism,” Rossif continued. “Here I am, my father has now died, and I'm in this show that he could have been in if it had happened at a different time. It's all a bit surreal. I feel him everywhere in this project.”

Rossif says he became an actor because of his father. His half-brother Kiefer Sutherland is also an actor!

“In many ways, it has brought me closer to my father. And in many ways, it is what will keep him in my company even now that he is gone,” he said.

Murder in a small town airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
