Man charged with 39 felonies for allegedly shooting at police officers – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

LOGAN COUNTY – A man has been formally charged with 39 counts of serious crimes after he was accused of barricading himself in a home in a Logan County neighborhood and firing at officers.

According to court records, Holley Tolliver Jr. was charged with 39 felonies.

These include 16 counts of attempted aggravated murder in the first degree, specifically designated, 15 counts of aggravated assault in the first degree, specifically designated, five counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm in the second degree in or into a residential or school safety zone, specifically designated, and one count each of aggravated burglary in the second degree and grand larceny in the third degree when the property is a firearm or dangerous combat weapon.

On Sept. 17, Tolliver pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity and a judge ordered him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, court records say.

As previously reported by News Center 7On August 14, a man barricaded himself in a home in the 11,000 block of Big Bear Path.

The standoff occurred after reports of gunshots in the house.

Two people were injured, including the suspect. The man was shot in the arm by officers, according to Logan County Sheriff Randall Dodds.

Taylor Robertson of News Center 7 reported that the SWAT team yelled at the man to come out with his hands up, and he surrendered after 12 hours.

Officers placed him in an ambulance. Paramedics took the man to Miami Valley Hospital.

A man was speaking to News Center 7 when he noticed the commotion.

“It's devastating and stressful,” Russ Thompson said. “You have to deal with that and some of the guys who went in there and got shot. That's something that will stay with them forever.”

Tolliver's next court date is scheduled for November 26.
