Boston United have announced that goalkeeper Cameron Gregory has broken his jaw in the same incident that earned him a red card in Saturday's match against Altrincham.

The 24-year-old was sent off five minutes after half-time at Moss Lane after “colliding” with Altrincham striker Justin Amaluzor.

But the National League club has now announced that he will be out “indefinitely” after being diagnosed with a broken jaw.

While his teammates overturned a 2-0 deficit to earn a point, Gregory was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital for treatment and remained at Manchester Royal Infirmary over the weekend.

Goalkeeper Ellis Craven, on loan from Rochdale, represented the club on Saturday and is expected to remain between the sticks for Tuesday's away game at Gateshead, for which Gregory has already been automatically suspended.

Gregory was part of the Boston team that won promotion from the National League North play-offs in May, regaining their place in English football's fifth tier.
